Yes, signup and distribution processes are the same for both publishing companies and self-published authors.

How much does it cost to sign up to offer my books on the Pick Reader Store?

Where may I distribute my books?

That's entirely up to you. When uploading your title to the Pick Reader Store, you will have an option to select the appropriate geographical rights. Thus, you can choose to make your titles available for sales- globally, locally or just in Africa. Your dashboard also give you tools that enables you to further encrypt your books by adding access code to your books. In this case, only people with your access code can access your books.

How can I sign up to offer my books on the Pick Reader Store?

To offer your books on the Pick Reader Store, you will need to sign up on the platform, provide your publisher name, book details, and other personal information.

How will I be notified of my application status?

We will send a verification email to the email address associated with your Pick Reader account after you submit your application.

What if I’m having trouble verifying my Pick Reader ID?

After you’ve submitted the application on Pick Reader , we will send you a verification email.

If you can’t find this email in your inbox, check your spam or junk folders. Also, make sure your email account can receive emails from support@pickreader.com. You may need to add this email address to your email address book or create an exception in your spam filters.

Should I use my own name or my company’s name as the legal entity name?

If you’re registered as a company, enter the company’s legal entity name. If you’re signing up as an individual, enter your first and last name. The legal entity name you enter on your application must match the name associated with your Tax ID.

Who should apply to offer books on the Pick Reader Store on behalf of my company?

Someone with the legal authority to sign documents on behalf of your company should apply to offer books on the Pick Reader Store. Only individuals with this legal authority can accept the standard Pick Reader agreement.

Can I offer my books for free on Pick Reader?

You should enter “0.00” in the price column if you only want to offer books for free on the Pick Reader Store. If you later decide you are also interested in selling books, you can alter the price. You will need to provide additional information to receive payments.

If I offer my books for free, can I choose to sell my books at a later date?

If you offer your books for free, and later decide you would also like to sell your books on the Pick Reader Store, you will need to provide additional information to receive payments.

Can my titles/publication be copied or shared with unauthorised users?

That's a big NO. Thanks to our robust and state of the art DRM technology. All your submitted notes/publications will be coded to prevent unauthorised usage or distribution.

What is DRM?

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management which simply helps you to protect your ebook from piracy and illegal distribution. With 128-bit AES Encryption Algorithm, Device MAC ID Verification and User Authentication, Pick Reader DRM provides a very strong DRM mechanism for content protection from piracy and illegal distribution. This is an absolute peace of mind for all publishers and authors.

Can I update or make changes to my submitted titles/publications?

Yes! Our contemporary content management system allows you to make changes or updates at any time and that will be reflected on both Pick Reader website and app.

What if I change my mind after submitting my titles/publications?

That's no problem at all. With a click of a button your submitted notes/publications can be removed permanently from Pick Reader.

How do I receive payment if I do sell on Pick Reader?

Our payment gateway allows users to pay either with their mobile money or visa/credit/master/local cards. Once payment has been received, we will make payment into your nominated bank accounts within 30 days at the start of every month. Your dashboard will also provide you with a full business analytics or insights into how many of your books have been downloaded and details of your readers. You will receive 70% in royalties on all your books sold on the Pick Reader platform.

Do you accept books in the PDF format?

Yes, the Pick Reader Store accepts books in PDF format. However, for good reading experience, submitted publications should be in the ePub format. If it is in MS Word format, we will convert it into an ePub format making it more interactive and useful to your readers. See guidelines for authors for additional information.

What is the EPUB format?

EPUB is a free electronic book standard that uses XHTML. Before you submit your book to the Pick Reader Store, you should validate the EPUB file to ensure that it complies with the EPUB formatting standards (EPUB schema). All books submitted to the Pick Reader Store must pass the latest version of ePubCheck, include only files listed in the manifest, and use UTF-8 or UTF-16 characters. How do I create a book file in the EPUB format?

Note that Chinese and Japanese language books, if created in EPUB, require the EPUB 3 format.

Do I need an International Standard Book Number (ISBN)?

No, an ISBN is recommended but not required for any book you are offering on the Pick Reader Store. An ISBN uniquely identifies the book and its current edition, and helps you to ensure that you are marketing the right book. The ISBN is also required for reporting your book's sales to industry reporting agencies and charting organizations.

How do customers access the Pick Reader Store?

Customers access the Pick Reader Store from the Pick Reader app or website. Pick Reader is free to download from the Google Play Store on Android devices.
